Sustainability Policy
We really are Wombles. Remember those English children characters that lived underground and collected, re-used and recycled other people's rubbish? That's us. We're just not as cute. But we enjoy making practical, useful, good-looking things out of other things.
But we don't use recycled corrugated iron. We used to when we first started but we want to guarantee our product and the life of it and that means we have to start with the best materials available. So we use the best quality zincalume and best quality paints we can buy in NZ.
And we use all of it. Cutting smaller and smaller pieces from the offcuts until the last scraps get sent to the recyclers.
We reuse and recycle where ever possible. Our fences are painted with old engine oil, some of our tools have had a previous life doing other things in other places, and it is amazing how often Steve can re-use a piece of pipe to support a Creation during transporting - until I finally get to steal it as a stake for my trees.
We purchase recycled products whenever feasible, or environmentally friendly cleaners and soaps if they do the job. After all, we deal with all our waste water onsite.
We employ local staff (and live onsite ourselves) to reduce commute times and cost.
We avoid the use of paper whenever possible - marketing by the internet and sending invoices by email.
